Don't get Sandra started about fluoride. She's very passionate about this topic and has expressed her views on many occasions.
In fact, her friends don't mention the "F" word anymore.
But that won't stop Sandra from getting on her soapbox this Sunday to spread the word about fluoride in our drinking water: She's dead against it.
Sandra will be one of many presenters voicing their ardent views in a fun day of public speaking at the Peregian Beach Markets. Another featured speaker is Liz, the renowned Parasite Princess, who’ll have you thinking about fleas. Or at least checking your pets for fleas. You’ll be amazed to learn how quickly 10 fleas turn into a million…
While Toastmasters will present their prepared speeches, members of the public are also invited to participate in the soapbox (3 minutes) and impromptu speaking (2 minutes) sessions.
So if there’s something you want to get off your chest, here’s your chance.
“If you’re passionate about something, then it’s easy to talk about it,” said Liz.
“Getting your message across in three minutes requires an introduction with impact, a call for action at the end, with a little bit of info in the middle.”
There are only three “rules” on the day:
Each speaking spot is timed and speakers will have lights and a warning bell when they’ve gone over their allocated time.
But the aim of the day is to have fun, have a go and speak with passion. Just don't mention fluoride...

A fantastic idea - so simple and I really like the way a couple of the topics have been flagged. I encourage as many Toastmasters as possible to turn up and give it a go this Sunday

Sandra was great. She got me thinking and talking about the F word and kept me entertained too.
Kiki, thanks so much for coming to support me when I got on my soapbox. You were there for me when my hubby wasn’t. Poor man, he’s heard enough of me banging on about you know what!
Hari, thanks for the great write up and pic too. It’s an honor to spend time with you at Toastmasters and have you as my public speaking mentor.
