On the Beach

On the Beach

I am really excited about joining the team for the new Visit Coolum website and to let you all know what’s going on in our great town Coolum and the action down the beach each month.

In April we are now in the calmer part of the year with the cyclonic season passed us we are starting to get more of the light offshore winds in the mornings, meaning winter in on its way. This time of year is personally my favourite with still swell around, light offshore winds and plenty of waves around for everyone.

The Reach for the Beach Easter festival was also on Sunday 4th April. The local Coolum Baptist Church organise this great event, with its family games and activities in the park followed by the skate competition which attracts competitors from all over Australia. The beach and parks were buzzing and it's such a great event to support and encourage our local youth.  Every year it just keeps getting better.

Now is a great time to holiday as typically we have plenty of blue skies, warm sun, light offshore winds and small waves. With all these countless perfect days it’s a great time to come up for a holiday, day trips and simply hang down the beach with the kids. If you ever wanted to learn to surf April is the month. The water is still warm and the conditions are great for learning so get out the today and enjoy the ocean and this beautiful place some of us are lucky enough to call home.

Look out for the local Coolum Boardriders competition held on the first Sunday of the month, we have so many talented surfers here in Coolum and the local Coolum Boardriders club has been established now for 25yrs and having many titles including the Simon Anderson Club of the Year Award and many State, National and International Surfers in the club. So come down and support your local Boardriders.

Till next month stay wet and keep smiling life’s too short so enjoy every day!
