A big night’s entertainment on Saturday is set to kick off a new monthly event in Coolum, while helping to raise money for charities.
Local music identity Pico (Golden Days Festival) says the main aim is to have people walk out of the party at the end of the night having had an amazing night’s entertainment.
“Hopefully it will make a lot of people really happy and give locals something special to look forward to once a month.”
Pico and Jay Bishoff (Peregian Originals) were looking at ways to fill the void of quality night time entertainment in Coolum and came up with the Lighthouse Party concept, featuring an array of entertainment, ranging from music to top line comedy acts.
“The aim of the Lighthouse Party is to shine the light upon a different local charity or community group each month.”
The opening night on Saturday is guaranteed to have everyone on their feet, with the Sunshine Coast’s favourite band Tijuana Cartel and Melbourne’s seven-piece gypsy groovers The Barons of Tang, who “are bound to give you a music experience to remember.”
“Rob Longstaff and Shannon Sol Carroll will team up to blow minds, and if that’s not enough, Jay Bishoff will kick off this special night by launching his debut book By Grace and Thumb.”
Pico says the area has been “screaming out” for quality evening entertainment.
“If there are any up and coming bands which are going to blow minds and leave a lasting impression, then for sure, we’ll help them build their profile; but the bands have to fit in with the style of music on the night.”
The first local cause to benefit from the inaugural event is the Coolum Beach Flicks, which provides free outdoor movies in Tickle Park.
“Jay and I think it’s a brilliant idea and are happy to help out,” Pico said.
“Organiser Gaye Williams and other local businesses are putting a lot of their own money into bringing this free event to Coolum. We love the Coolum Beach Flicks and think it’s a great idea for the community.”
