Coolum Business and Tourism Association (formerly Coolum Chamber of Commerce) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting business, tourism and community growth and activities in the Coolum region.

As well as various events throughout the year, we also hold regular networking nights on the 3rd Wednesday of the month with guest speakers and a friendly atmosphere.

NOEL MOONEY -PRESIDENT

Noel Mooney has been involved with a number of business and community groups not only in Coolum but across the Sunshine Coast since 1995.  He is currently represents Coolum Business & Tourism as a Director of Tourism Noosa and is highly regarded by local community for his significant contribution to the region.
Noel’s past positions include President of the Coolum Kite Festival (2002-2009), board member of MTIAB (Maroochy Tourism Industry Advisory Board (2006-2009) and Director of Sunshine Coast Tourism (2007-2009).,He has been a member of Coolum Business & Tourism since 2001 and was heavily involved in the rebranding of the organisation from the Coolum Chamber of Commerce in 2009.   Noel is very passionate about the Coolum and is a partner and director of a number of businesses in the area including North Shore Realty, North Shore Body Corporate, Coolum Holidays and the very successful website, www.coolum.com.auwhich has been promoting the area since 2002.

KIM ANDERSON - VICE PRESIDENT

This is Kim's second term as Vice President after having first served for 12 months as an executive committee member. Kim has been working as a Journalist and Photographer for the Coolum Advertiser for over five years, as well as working freelance in her own media business. In 2010, she was awarded Coolum's Citizen of the Year and remains heavily involved in local events and the community in general. Kim has been a Coolum resident for 15 years and has three 'Coolum-raised' children.

 

MALCOLM CHILMAN – TREASURER

Malcolm is a tax agent and qualified accountant and the owner of Bottom Line Control located on the Esplanade in Coolum Beach.  The accounting practicespecialises in Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises..Since coming to the Sunshine Coast 14 years ago, Malcolm has owned and operated his own businesses, starting Bottom Line Control in 2003. Prior to moving to the Sunshine Coast he worked as a financial controller in medium/large businesses in Sydney. He has an intrinsic understanding of what information business owners/managers want and need to run their businesses and loves to “get the figures to talk”. Malcolm can also advise on appropriate tax effective business structures for asset protection. His firm uses up-to-date technology to very efficiently prepare meaningful financial reports including key performance indicators (KPI’s) to help keep track of the businesses performance, and to comply with tax obligations.

 

     
SHANE THOMPSON- SECRETARY

Shane is the owner operator of Grandview Glass, which is based here in Coolum. Having been in business now for the past 2 and a half years and a local of the Coolum area for the past 11 years, Shane is passionate about the idea of "locals supporting locals", and the promotion of Coolum as a great destination to holiday, day trip or invest.

   

 GEM LEWIS – COMMITTEE MEMBER

Gem has been a Coolum resident for 22 years and began organising events as part of the committee for the Hyatt Staff Rec Club and continued to enjoy being involved in events during her 18 years with the Resort. Past volunteer roles included being manager of her son’s rugby union team, Executive Committee member of Coolum Toastmasters, Committee member of 07/08 Coolum Kite Festival and President of the Festival’s 2009 event.  Gem is currently employed as Office Manager for KHA Development Managers at Alexandra Heads and oversees rental, function hire and property maintenance of The Rocks in Yandina.

    

DI STEVENSON– COMMITTEE MEMBER

Di has over 25 years of hospitality and small business experience, having operated The Caf in Coolum’s Birtwill Street for the past 10 years. She moved to the Sunshine Coast from Canberra where she lived for 35 years.Di was part of the Coolum Kite Festival committee for 6 years and has also enjoyed working with Meals on Wheels on a voluntary basis.

 

MURRAY NOYCE – COMMITTEE MEMBER

Murray Noyce has been the Management Rights Manager of Coolum Beach Getaway Resort (together with Carmel), for the past 3 years. Murray has a keen interest in the Coolum Community, has been a member of Coolum Business & Tourism for 2 ½ years and last year joined the Committee. Murray enjoys playing golf and going out and socializing at the many great venues in the Coolum area.

 

  

GREG MURPHY – COMMITTEE MEMBER

Greg is the Manager of the Suncorp Bank branch in Coolum. He has been involved in the Finance industry for over 25 years, with a break to operate a small business out of Maroochydore. Greg joined the CB&T Committee 2 years ago after seeing how members of this Association differ in their proactive nature and passion to see Coolum, and surrounding areas, progress and grow. As part of the Membership sub-committee he hopes he can contribute to CB&Ts ongoing success.
